Available Courses

• Training Scheduler

  This is the place for students to schedule training sessions with mentors and instructors. The training staff will post their available times and students can select the time frame that best suits them.
• Phase One (OBS to S2)

  

  This phase of your training will take you from an Observer rating (brand new student) to the Student (S2) rating. After you complete this course of training you will be certified to work Local, Ground, or Clearance Delivery at any airport in ZTL airspace except KATL and KCLT. NOTE: The enrollment key for this course can be found in the Welcome email that you received from the Training Administrator soon after joining vZTL.
  
• Phase Two (S2 to S3)

  

  This phase of your training introduces you to the world of radar controlling. You will learn the basics of approach and departure control, and will be given an OTS exam on Birmingham Approach (expect heavy traffic). After completing this course, you will be certified to work all Approach/Departure positions within our airspace except Charlotte App/Dep and A80 (Atlanta). UNDER CONSTRUCTION: This Phase is not currently active. Students who complete Phase One will move directly to Phase Three.
  
• Phase Three (Facility Certifications)

  

  This phase of your training is focused on specific facilities - ATL and CLT. These major facilities require special training and certification due to the complicated procedures and heavier traffic. When you begin this phase, the Training Administrator will assign you either to ATL or CLT. After you are completely certified in that TRACON, you will then move to the other. After you have completed this phase, you will be certified to control all facilities in vZTL other than Center.
• Phase Four (S3 to C1)

  

  This phase of your training combines everything you have learned thus far and adds to it enroute training. At the conclusion of this phase, you will take the C1 exam at VATUSA and upon passing that exam will be promoted to the full Controller (C1) rating and be certified to work all facilities at vZTL.
